2014 Tucker Sauvignon Blanc- Rutherford

At Tucker Wines our philosophy is simple. Source the highest quality fruit from premier California vineyards and let the vineyard express its unique terroir through the wine.

The grapes used in this refreshing yet elegant Sauvignon Blanc come from the premier family owned “Alsace Vineyard”, on the eastern bench of Rutherford, in the Napa Valley.

This vineyard region falls in the path of the lava flow from the Mount Saint Helena eruption about 3 million years ago. Coincidentally the soil on the eastern bench of Rutherford tends to carry more alluvial characteristics than the soil on the western side, a mere 4 miles away.

As a result of this volcanic less fertile area, the wines tend to to show more defined characteristics of minerality and stone as opposed to tropical fruit, more common in other regions of Napa Valley.

This beautifully balanced wine exhibits characteristics of Meyer lemon, pineapple, passion fruit and crisp minerality, along with a hint of herb and green apple.

This Sauvignon Blanc was fermented and aged in 100% stainless steel tanks, yet it displays a rich creaminess reminiscent of wines fermented or aged in oak. The result of a technique called botonage, which is the frequent stirring of the lees for an extended period following fermentation. This wine was also bottled unfiltered to capture all the delicate nuances of this wonderful grape.
